USB to RS-485 Converter

               RS-485 is a standard defining the electrical characteristics of drivers and receivers for use in serial communications systems. Electrical signaling is balanced, and multipoint systems are supported. Digital communications networks implementing the standard can be used effectively over long distances and in electrically noisy environments. Multiple receivers may be connected to such a network in a linear.

                        This Converter USB TO RS485  pairs an MAX13487E  with an CP2102 USB UART BRIDGE  IC to convert a USB stream to RS-485.  MAX13487E  is Half-Duplex RS-485-/RS-422-Compatible Transceiver with AutoDirection Control  so it can only communicate one way at a time, but it can reach transmission speeds of up to 16Mbps.
 With the proper drivers installed, the CP2102 USB DRIVERS will enumerate as a virtual COM port; the drivers are available for Windows, Mac and Linux. ( USB DRIVERS LINK  )
